God.... please give me Directions!

What if?

You could hear Gods voice giving you guidance in the next best step in live?

Does God have a plan for your life? Yes! It is important to understand that God has a plan and purpose for your life. This is one of the sensational aspects of being a Christian – to know that your life can be tied into God’s plan and purpose not only for time but for eternity. He has specific things in mind for each person (1 Cor 12)

Eph2:10

Psalm 37:23

Will God show it to us? Yes! David says of God: You will guide me with Your counsel. God says: I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go. I will guide you with My eye upon you. God invites you to become part of His plan!   God invites you to become

Psalm 73:24 Psalm 32:8 Proverbs 3:5
How does it work? (1) God invites you to have a personal relationship with Him. (2) He reveals His guidance one step at a time. The bible says that "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path". God usually shows you the next step. Not a "blue-print" or the entire path. The Bible does not say "Thy word is a headlight, so I can see far on the path."

Psalm 119:105

Isaiah 48:17

What is needed for us to receive God's direction & guidance?

(1) You need to be a child of God! The Bible says that it is the will of God that you believe in John 6. If you are not, i encourage to visit the webpage Go2Heaven and follow the presentation.

(2) You need to obey God in those cases that you already know what His will is: Do we pray daily, Read our bible? Willing to share our faith? What areas of the will of God do you already understand? Are you acting on what you understand?

(3) You need to be willing to accept/obey the will of God before knowing what it is. When we come to a cross-road and receive His guidance, we need to trust God's love that His way is the best. We need to trust God's Almighty power that He will provide and enable us for all we need. We need to trust His All-Knowing abilities that His directions are always right. Following God is like riding a bike, the more you do it, the easier it get's.

John 6:28-29 John 10:3-4 Romans 8:32

How does God gives us Directions and Guidance?

(1) Through the Bible.  Has it ever struck you that the vast majority of the will of God for your life has already been revealed in the Bible? That is crucial to grasp. Examples: We know it is the will of God (from Romans 8:29) that we are to be conformed to the image of Christ. God tells us that we are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. This means, among other things, that a Christian is never to marry an unbeliever. Are any of you praying for guidance whether you should marry a non-Christian? Save your breath. God has already answered that. But there are specific situations, in which the Bible does not gives us a direct answer. We can ask God for specific guidance in those cases. Also always include the question: Does the guidance I receive agree with what the Bible says. God would never contract His Word.

Romans 8:29

2 Cor 6:14

(2) Through prayer and the Holy Spirit - as we ask Him to reveal His will. The Bible says in Ephesians 1:16 that Paul prays for wisdom and understanding. He wouldn't have said that, unless it was possible through prayer to gain wisdom and spiritual insight.

Eph. 1:15-23

(3) Through circumstances. God can guide us through circumstances, however we must be on our guard here. If you are planning to become a full time minister, but can't find a school that accepts you. This maybe guidance telling you to look at other options. Then again being accepted in seven schools may not be a confirmation. God use circumstances to give us directions, but we need to be carefull to not make this the only or main way to try to find God's will.

John 10:3-4
(4) Through the counsel of other Christians. Be on your guard of people that that claim to have a personal pipeline to God. God has been blamed for the craziest things. Instead: Are you wondering if something is the will of God? Talk to some of your mature Christian friends, your pastor, elders and others who know you and are themselves concerned for the will of God. Their counsel may be valuable. It is true that we sometimes get mixed counsel from friends, but their advice is frequently helpful. Acts 15:28 says: It has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us ….”  Acts 15:28

When all four of these factors – The Word of God, Conviction that He gives us in prayer, Circumstances and the Counsel of Christian friends – converge, it is usually a sign that God is leading you in a certain direction.
